Mirzapur is a web series that was a huge success when it was released two years ago. After much hype, the second season is now open. Produced by Ritesh Shidwani and Farhan Akhtar, the series is available in Prime Video, 0 and let's see how it goes.
Narrative :
The second season begins, with the first ending after Munna Bhayya (Divyandu) is murdered in a marriage. He kills one of the main characters, Bob (Vikrant Massey), and injures Gudu (Ali Fazal). Munna's only goal is to rule Mirzapur anyway but his father Kaleen Bhaiyya (Pankaj Tripathi) is still around and will not give his kingdom easily to anyone. Guddu wants to take revenge on Munna Bhaiya and make his enemies on his way to the top in Mirzapur. The rest of the story is about the struggle between Munna Bhaiya and Guddu who want to win Mirzapur for their own interests.
What’s excellent:
The first season is full of solid performances and the second season will continue to be the same. Ali Fazal is even more horrible this season with his deformed appearance and horrible incarnation. His dialogue delivery is excellent and the accent he uses on the suits, Ali. The Divine Star in this series, because he gets the pivotal role and plays the role of the relentless Don in a solid way.
Pankaj Tripathi was largely suppressed, but his villain character and the way the makers portrayed him in a stylish manner was amazing. What clicks with this season are UP’s rustic bylines and local politics deeply rooted. The approach taken by many to rule Mirzapur was very interestingly demonstrated.
Amorous Duggal has an amazing screen presence and definitely
makes her a crazy character. Shweta Tripathi Sharma is also nice in her pivotal
role and holds the screen well in the middle episodes. The camera work needs
special mention because it is displayed in an excellent manner in a
crime-ridden UP. The best technical part is the BGM, which is mind-boggling.
Even the simplest scenes are elevated with solid BGM. Conversations require
special mention.
What’s Bad
There is a lot of hype for this season but creativity
wise, nothing new. The makers do not present a new one and explain where the
story left off in the first season. Also, there is little in the way of a
political angle that seems solid in the first part.
There is also the notion that some episodes and backstories deviate from the main theme in some episodes. This season ended on an open note with the makers leaving the scope for a third season. For this reason, some may not like the way this season is coming to an end.
outcome:
All in all, Mirzapur 2 is an awkward web series based on a power struggle in the rugged areas of Uttar Pradesh. Compared to the first season, the story and plot are a bit slower, but the visual performance, excellent conflicts, and sandy production values make this series interesting. Go for it.
