Scam 1992 The Harshad Mehta Story Review: Hansal Mehta tells us the story of the securities scandal that dug deep in India in the 80s and 90s and shook the country. Harshad Mehta’s boom-to-bust story is symbolic of its time, but not limited to it.

When Harshad Mehta was running as the king of the Bombay Stock Exchange, a magazine showed him as its cover with ‘The Raging Bull’ on its cover. It's not the only title given to him by the media and subsequent market - he is also known as 'Big Bull' and 'Einstein', 'Cobra Killer', and 'Leopard'. Harshad's life and Hansal Mehta's web series, Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta's Story is nothing short of a case where the stockbroker is close to his heart - Dalal Street's Amitabh Bachchan.

By giving the audience context and much-needed perspective, the series turns out to be an extremely valuable clock of 500 minutes on a topic that has been cut and dried like a securities scandal. This allows us to determine whether Harshad is a victim or a criminal.

For those who lived through neo-simplified India in the early 90s, and in the years before that the broker could understand how to gain popularity as a competitor to the screen icon. Nineteen years after his death, he was involved in a multi-web series and a movie, coincidentally starring with the son of a man he compared. ‘Common Man Hero’ who died in custody with 70 criminal cases and 600 civil cases against him. In a country surrounded by outdated laws and bureaucratic red tape, the boy from Kandivali Chal went to Marine Drive Penthouse with his mantra ‘Risk High to Ishq Hai’.

There is nothing more appealing than a cocktail of money, ambition, and power, and all of this in Harshad’s story. Scam 1992: Harshad Mehta Story gives us a modern anti-hero story and plays for the bank. Harshad was never portrayed as a criminal on the web show, instead, he was a crooked man who used loopholes in an ancient system to his advantage. He did not create loopholes, not only used them but in the end, the system won.

He is an outsider, a boy from Chal, who not only likes to play with the older kids but beats them with their own game. They, of course, have nothing to do with it. "We do it with class," one man said vaguely to his snub-nosed friends, "and Harshad has no class." Another describes him as a "bloody pan". The series suggests that he was dropped by the cartel by a group of ‘insiders’ if you will. The first whip of the 1992 securities scandal also came through an agreement sent by the cartel to journalist Sucheta Dalal (Shreya Dhanwantri).

Story:

Scam 1992: Harshad Mehta Story Based on the book by Dalal and Debashis Basu, The Scam: Who Won, Who Lost, Who Got Away, and Sucheta. How Harshad rigged the system with public sector banks and private financial institutions, leading to losses of thousands of crores, shows the rags-to-riches story.

Probably the biggest part of this 10-episode series is Harshad coming to power. Starting as an on-the-job employee - the lowest level in the food chain - he sees tremendous growth with his head for business and sees readiness to build the system. Together with his brother Ashwin (Hemant Kher) and trusted assistant Bhushan (Chirag Vohra) he takes over the established system and the explosive-spotting bear trader (Satish Kaushik). A hacker, Harshad will soon be reigning in Bors and is now focusing on the big prize - the security markets. Led by Citibank's India head Thiagarajan (Nikhil Dwivedi), he meets his true rivals with a chip on his shoulders. This rank refuses to allow an outsider into their turf, and a complicated battle ensues between the two sides.

Having amassed a large fortune and having a direct route to Delhi from the self-styled goddess (Chandraswamy, Google Him), Harshad is now buying his own legend. A penthouse overlooking the Arabian Sea, a complex of fancy cars and an army of Acolytes seeking his autographs, the stockbroker is the new demi-god of the country who quietly but surely embraces capitalism and clear use. Harshad sold the stock market push-and-show as a get-rich-quick scheme to the middle class; Greed is good.

Like the millions who bought into this dream, Harshad begins to take a lot of risk, giving his opponents the opportunity they are looking for. Sucheta Investigation Reporting will soon lead to an inquiry by the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bureau of Investigation. Rapidi CBI investigating officer Madhavan (Rajat Kapoor) tightened the screws on Harshad and his associates, especially officials of the Mumbai branch of the State Bank of India and former unit trust of India chief MK Ferwani (KK Raina). It was also shown that something was rotten at the Power Delhi seat. Scam 1992 is a series that is not afraid to take names and point fingers. It gives a window into the turbulent years in Indian history, setting and approving major events on the spot.

0ver all Review Scam 1992's

Scam 1992's Biggest Success: Harshad Mehta Story How complicated it is to make it easy. The securities scandal involving affiliated general ledgers and bank receipts is divided into common language and sometimes turns into seat drama. The last time this happened, I was watching The Big Short and we needed Margot Robbie in a tub to explain the complex details.

Excellent performance from Pratik Gandhi will definitely help. Although he is not physically similar to Harshad Mehta, he exudes charm and confidence and is no more attractive than he was allowed to capture Harris‌. "My biggest offense is that I am Harshad Mehta," he said even when the chips were down and the central agencies were in his scent.

The skilled ensemble cast adds depth to the scam 1992 and it was a pleasure to see so many populated faces on the screen once again in the 90s. The visual writing and direction make this show sink in, despite the length and complexity of the subject. Hansal Mehta, who is credited with co-directing Jai Mehta, portrays Harshad as a product of his time, a man who walks with hope stops at nothing. Although his crimes are pointed out, he is always seen as a victim of a system that is harsh on those at the top.

The Big Bull will eventually be back, the series says, more on the hunting chain. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful visuals of Maximum City, it is a jungle there.
